With increase of 14.7% including charitable programs inside and outside the state Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment spends AED 93.9 million during the 1st half of this year

     His Highness Ibrahim Boumelha, Counsellor of the ruler of Dubai for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment deeply thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister, the Ruler of Dubai, and sponsor of the Establishment due to his permanent support to the Establishment and its good follow-up to the humanitarian works carried out by it and his high directives with the necessity to expand the charitable and humanitarian activities and the services, it provides, both inside and outside the state, in commensuration with its pioneering role in charitable work and with what can be achieved to fulfill the actual benefit of the high prestige that has been reached by the reputation of the Establishment at all levels of local, regional and global levels.

 

     Boumelha pointed out that the Establishment, under the guidance of HH the sponsor of the Establishment, has become a pioneer and active in charitable work of whatever kinds, whether in providing therapeutic, educational, food and other assistance to the needy. Furthermore, supporting the institutions and community centers within the state or providing the necessary reliefs in the natural disasters of those affected and contributing in the construction of hospitals, schools and mosques for friendly and sister countries.

 

     HE Mr. Ibrahim Boumelha, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment stressed on the importance of supporting and assisting the vulnerable groups in local community by meeting their various needs which contributes to progress their lives and encourages them to play their vital role in the renaissance of the homeland and development of a proper society.

 

     Boumelha said that during the 1st half of this year, the Establishment has carried out a number of projects and various charitable assistances inside and outside the state, at a cost of more than 93 million nine hundred thousand dirhams, with an increase of 14.7% over the previous year's budget at the same time. HE explained that these assistances and projects are distributed over number of humanitarian programs that serve the needy people of all categories that the Establishment has been able to reach and provide them with the possible assistance.

 

     HE Counsellor said that the expenditures of charitable activity of the Establishment has obtained the largest share of the total expenditures in the first half of the year, in an amount of 73 million six hundred thousand dirhams, which represents 78.3% of these expenditures, and including the internal assistance and internal projects, both of which include various sub-programs such as assistance in the fields of education, health and social programs for all sectors of society provided by the Establishment to the needy, in addition to the Zakat channels from Dubai Islamic Bank and from the benefactors who deposited their money in the Establishment. All these assistances were provided to the needy whose applications were approved based on study by social researchers at the Establishment. These expenditures increased by 28.2% over last year's expenditures for the same period.

 

     On the level of assistance and external projects, Counsellor Ibrahim Boumelha said that during the first half of this year, the Establishment was able to deliver its humanitarian assistance to 64 countries from friendly and sister countries of Arab and Islamic countries and other countries in Asia and Africa as well as some countries in Europe and South America. Such assistance amounted more than 20 million three hundred thousand dirhams, which represents 21.7% of the total expenditures of charitable activity of the Establishment, he explained that such expenditures included providing urgent assistance to some countries that suffer from special circumstances such as Palestine, Iraq and Somalia, as well as Lebanon, which receives a number of displaced Syrians. Furthermore, assistance included also implementing a number of charitable programs in different countries, as a number of projects were implemented such as mosques, drinking water wells, orphanages, schools and other various projects.

 

     Boumaleh thanked all the strategic partners from the entities, government departments, companies, banks and donors who have deposited their zakat with the Establishment. He added that the cooperation will continue with benefactors and businessmen to serve the poor and the needy, stressing at the same time that Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment will continue as a torch of good and light which enlighten the hearts of the poor and needy under the generous and noble guidance of its sponsor His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
