Proceeding from the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (May Allah protect him); His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces; Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment has initially allocated an amount of AED 5 million to carry out a number of relief projects to help brothers in Somalia, help millions of people whose humanitarian situation affected by food shortages, and provide urgent humanitarian aids to those affected by famine. An operations room was urgently set up to examine the appropriate method and mechanism for rapid access to humanitarian aids in full coordination with the UAE Embassy in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.
Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (May Allah protect him), the Establishment has studied the provision of urgent humanitarian aids to those affected by famine. The Establishment was, as always, ready to implement such directives issued by the UAE supreme leadership, which inspired by the steps of the founding leader His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah bless his Soul, in helping brotherly and friendly peoples in times of trials and crises.
The Preparations of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment for saving the lives of millions of humans in such fraternal country include setting up an operations room working 24/7 to determine the priorities of urgent and imperative relief for the population in Somalia, especially the holy month of Ramadan is not that far away. The Relief Team of the Establishment made several contacts with organizations working on the ground to determine such priorities and the most successful methods to urgently deliver assistance to affected persons in Somalia and provide all aspects of assistance to them due to the unprecedented severe famine striking such fraternal country.
It is worth mentioning that the Establishment has distributed many foodstuffs to the fraternal Somali people in the past period totaling more than 900 tons of essential and basic foodstuffs. Moreover, the Establishment has built 15 hospitals and medical clinics, including 8 public hospitals and 7 maternity hospitals. These projects have been executed because of the poor health conditions there. These projects have been of utmost importance to save what can be saved in this regard, and they have contributed to the provision of health care for the fraternal Somali people.
