In light of its belief in the important role of educational institutions in advancing the educational sector in the UAE, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity Establishment provided financial support to male and female students of Zayed University, within the educational program “Science is our means of advancement.” This support, which is provided to students with low income, assists them in completing their education and overcoming the obstacles they face. Accordingly, the program will alleviate students’ financial problems, as well as promote their scientific attainment.
His Excellency Ibrahim Boumelha, Consultant of His Highness, Ruler of Dubai for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs, and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Financial Contribution Foundation, delivered the financial support in the Foundation’s headquarters to His Excellency Professor Dr. Riad Al Muhaidib, President of Zayed University. This was accomplished in the presence of Mr. Saleh Zaher Al Marzoui, Director of the Foundation, and Ms. Sariea Al Ketbi, a specialist at the Office of Student Support and Assistance at Zayed University, Dubai Branch and Dr. Asmaa Obeid, at Zayed University.
Boumelha affirmed that the Foundation always strives to promote local institutions, in particular, institutions of higher education. These institutions undertake the responsibility of upgrading the educational sector in the UAE, so that it keeps pace with the UAE strategy regarding university education. This strategy focuses on university education as a primary impetus in the development of the homeland and its citizens. He explained that the support given through the program encourages male and female students to naturally continue to develop their scientific abilities, bolstering their achievements in the sciences.
Dr. Riad Al Muhaidebm, President of Zayed University, gave recognition to the distinguished role played by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment in supporting university students with low income. This support, derived from the principle of social responsibility towards the students, advances the educational sector by graduating national cadres capable of promoting of development process.
Al Muhaidebm further stated: “Pursuant to the instructions of Her Highness Sheikha Loubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and Cooperation and Chancellor of Zayed University, Zayed University is interested in supporting student cadres in their academic careers. This support shall be achieved through cooperation with charitable institutions in the UAE, which play a significant role in helping students overcome financial obstacles. Financial obstacles often prevent students from pursuing scientific attainment in a supportive environment. A positive and supportive environment, which can be created through financial support given to these students, promotes their scientific attainment to the greatest extent possible.”
Al Muhaidebm praised the current successful cooperation established between Zayed University and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, which has lasted for nine years. This cooperation has resulted in the provision of computers and mobiles, which are considered requirements in attaining educational success at the university level; helping students acquire the necessary skills to keep pace with changes in technology while developing their scientific abilities.
